Community Kitchen

For those who are new to PolyParadise - your kitchen includes all of the items you need to cook the food you bring.  There will be eight (8) | (3) Burner Stoves - assorted utensils (cooking and serving) - Pots & Pans Large stock pots - BBQ Grill & Flattop Grill as well as Spices of all kinds.  We will also have Foil - Plastic wrap - Ziplocs - Serving Bowls and just about anything else you might need in a kitchen.

The Kitchen will be equipped with (2) commercial 1 Drip - 2 Warmer Coffee Pots

Complete dishwashing station with soapy water and rinse area & Sanitizer

It is YOUR responsibility to purchase ICE to keep your items cold.  Ice is available @ Camp Artica [ Center Camp 6:00 - The 3:00 & 9:00 Plazas] for $3/bag or block.  The camp will coordinate a Daily Ice Run - When the amount of purchased Ice is fully distributed; it will then be your responsibility to go to Artica and purchase Ice on your own to keep your Meal cold or your personal cooler items.

The 2025 Registration Process requires that you participate in some way to the camp, this sharing will take place within the Kitchen.  That way each day all of us get to have a chance at being a Gourmet Chef, while secretly adding our special ingredients. Of course mine is PLAYA DUST!!! Remember Playa Dust is a condiment and goes well with everything.

Cook One Meal Once for 25 people: As you register you will need to choose which Day/Meal you will cook for.  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (Preparation, Serving & Cleanup), You need only 'Contribute' for only meal, but encouraged to do more if you are so inclined. You only need to cook once for 25 people; then enjoy the rest of the weeks food (You can always cook for more than one meal if you are so inclined). Couples can choose to do a meal together. We will have multiple campers doing that each day @ each meal | there will be plenty to eat and a clean Kitchen.

To be fair and to make sure that all meals are covered and have an adequate number of meals being cooked; If you are a group of three or more I will require at least two meals for
25. What I do not really want is for your group to all cook the same meal for 50 or 75; yes the food will be eaten but the real issue is making sure that each meal is covered and that all meals have an adequate amount of food available.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, with meal times at  two hour intervals:
8:00a-10:00a  | 12:00p-2:00p | 6:00p-8:00p

If you fill out the registration form and choose to cook, but do not know what you will in-fact cook, at a later date you can view/edit the to Google Sheet, Send Email to Scotto. It would be appreciated not to have to track you down...

THE CAMP DOES NOT HAVE SPECIFIC CAMPERS/VOLUNTEERS TO OVERSEE THE KITCHEN, TRASH, LNT, CAMP ICE RUN ON A DAILY BASIS.

See VolunteeratoldismYOU WILL BE RANDOMLY ASSIGNED (1) SHIFT ON JUST (1) DAY. THERE WILL BE AT LEAST (5) CAMPERS ON ANY SHIFT ALL WORKING TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THE JOB/TASK.

THIS SCHEDULE WILL BE PRINTED ON A LARGE POSTERBOARD WITH INSTRUCTIONS ON WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE/MONITORED.

YOUR COOLER – DAY 1

When you pack for your trip to BRC - your cooler should be ICED – When you are at the last stop on Rt. 80 (From the West (Sparks) – From the East (Fernley) before making the turn on HYW 447 heading towards Gerlach – YOUR COOLER SHOULD BE ICED!!  When you arrive @ Burning Man your cooler should have ICE maybe somewhat melted but it should HAVE ICE!!!

As a Village of 300 persons we are required to have a Health Permit by the Nevada Health Dept.  The Health Dept will visit our camp and make sure that we are adhering to all prescribed food preparation – serving – cleanup requirements.

The Health Dept will inspect all coolers and make sure that the contents of said cooler are at proper temperature. Obviously, coolers that have NO ICE or LIMITED ICE cannot possibly be at proper temperature.  The contents of any cooler not cooled to proper temperature were DISCARDED!

WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE – NO WE REQUIRE that you ICE DOWN YOUR COOLERS as you start your trip to the Playa and KEEP ICE LEVEL IN COOLERS AS REQUIRED during your trip.

This will ensure that when you cook your meal that NO ONE EATING YOUR FOOD WILL GET SICK!

We will also be more proactive and do an ICE RUN on Sunday (Day 1) that any camper can use to make sure that when you arrive On-Playa that your cooler can be RE-ICED and your food can be kept to temperature and KEPT SAFE FOR EATING!!

ULTIMATELY KEEPING YOUR COOLER ICED – YOUR FOOD SAFE ON THE WAY TO BRC IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

Drinking Water will be available. It is encouraged that you help replenish the Community Drinking water when needed.  The community water jug is also located in the community space. Please bring 5 gallons per vehicle (More would be appreciated) to donate to your fellow campers hydration. This cooler is filled and iced each day for community use.
