PolyParadise Favorite Moments?
Favorite moments are all over the place, especially when and where you least expect them. The trip to and from, Early Entry and Tear Down, the first night walk out to the man, almost all of the time in the kitchen, and making snow cones for PP and surrounding camps stand out. And I just now realized that March 1, registering to camp with PP, and creating my yearly bio is truly a favorite moment as well. But the amazing time spent with Shadow and Ice Angel is at the top of the list. And this year I’ll be able to add time spent with Nikki, another daughter, who is retuning to the playa and PP after a long hiatus since 2011.

She is bringing her burgin husband Henry this year. Helping introduce a newbie is always a favorite moment. This is my fourth year as PP Kitchen Bi-a-tch, leading the PP Kitchen with Shadow. I’ve loved almost every second of it. LauraZ joined Shadow and I as a Kitchen Bitch for the first time in 2018. Seeing LauraZ jump in full force and discover her playa name of Ice Angel (given by Wild Child) was so fun to be a part of. I love the social relationships that have formed and memories made while we have a blast in the PP Kitchen. I love that we have introduced my oldest daughter Nikki, our middle daughter Ice Angel, and this year, Henry into the burner family!

Why Burning Man? You know how it feels to have such a close, comfortable, relationship with someone that you can say or do anything you feel like, no matter how crazy or off the wall it may be? And you know they will fully share how you feel. Burning man is like that. A huge place where you can just be who you feel like being, whenever you feel like it, and the whole place shares with you. Burning Man is a living, breathing, organism and I feel like an integral part of it.

Burning History: This makes an even dozen burns for me. Eleven of those burns camping with PP. Every year we have worked for the camp from Build, various support roles throughout the Burn, Strike, and LNT. Some burns have been better than others. We started out sleeping in an EZ-up conversion tent. That experience was similar to sleeping in the open playa as far as dust goes. We migrated to the traditional carport and Springbar tent, a playa camp standard for years in the past. Now our playa home is an RV. We use hardly any of the amenities available in the RV on playa. But we do enjoy minimal personal camp Setup and Strike effort, a convenient place to pee at night, dust protection, and instant, much more comfortable bed to sleep in.

Describe BM: I can’t even begin. Just go with no hard expectations and embrace whatever happens!

My Life: Burning Man is not just a time or thing in the desert. It really is an inseparable part of my everyday life. I love Burning Man.
