Black Rock City Burns: 1995, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016
Regionals: Soulfire (South Bay CA) 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015
UnScruz (Santa Cruz CA) 2014
Saguaro Man (AZ) 2017
Home: Born in New England, moved to California in 1991. Based in Sunnyvale CA (near San Jose)
Past Camps: PolyParadise 2015, 2016
ESD Station 9 2010, 2011, 2013
Camp-I-Am/Save-the-Man 2006, 2008, 2009 Weird Blinking Lights Camp 1995
Volunteering: Returning to my 6th year of doing radio dispatch with ESD, Comms9060. Also coming in early to help set up PolyParadise. Was able to join the PP crew for this year's work party in March in AZ, much fun and good work done.
Hobbies: Ham Radio (KF6NBZ), gardening, making stuff at TechShop (laser cutter, shopbot), reading sci-fi and urban fantasy, snorkeling & scuba diving (warm water only please), beading/jewelery-making, cuddling our two kitties. I do project management in my day job, which is handy for being organized packing for the playa.
Why Burning Man? I loved it in 1995, but met my husband in 1996 and forgot about everything else for a few years. As someone who has spent time living in an RV wandering the USA, Burning Man feels like home. I love the people, the vehicles, the sense of complete acceptance. I feel 100% free to be myself in Black Rock City, which is a rare thing in my life.
Best moments? First sunrise on the playa every year.
Toughest thing? Waking up Tuesday after Labor Day and going back to work, knowing it will be another whole year. Regionals help, though!
