Camper Bios - 2014

KarinHi. I was going to think of a Playa name but I decided it would be too weird to have people call me by some other name so I am sticking with my regular name, Karin.

This is my first Burn and I’m rather nervous since I’m not fond of noise, heat, and dust but this has been on my bullet list for many years. I love creativity and exploration and the idea of being off my iPhone for a week.

I am coming with my sweetie of 4.5 years Pan Das (also known as Paul Glassco) and my sweetie of one year Tom who is coming with his wife Fran. Tom and Fran are also virgins.

I have been in a long-term relationship with a woman since 1983 who is not poly and isn’t interested in men and was lesbian-identified for 30 years. We no longer live together but we still consider our relationship to be the most important one in our lives. I have been in an open relationship since 2006 and poly-identified since 2010. I live in Sonoma County and am active in poly activities in that area and in the Bay Area. I have also done up to Level 6 of HAI and am involved with Sacred Connections.

I am not looking for another on-going relationship since I am pretty full with my current sweeties but I am always open to exploring fun times with or without my sweeties at the Burn. I am soft kinky and identify as queer in the sense of not being exclusively heterosexual (or lesbian). I am into non-hierarchical poly.

I am 61 and recently retired after 40 years of working in human services around children, youth, and families, mostly in administration. I thought I was going to retire and work part-time but I have more work than I want right now so I am now saying that I am self-employed with flexible hours. Currently I teach online in a undergraduate psychology program and am a licensed psychotherapist. I am a human services management consultant and currently have a long-term engagement as the interim director of an agency.

My other interests include playing the piano (I am an early advanced classical pianist), most forms of music, kayaking, reading (mostly non-fiction), independent film, biking, the outdoors, birding, travel abroad, and most importantly the art of intelligent conversation. I live in Rohnert Park and spend a lot of time in the Bay Area where I lived for 25 years.

Pan Das (Paul Glassco) and I are doing an introvert awareness for introverts and extroverts on Friday at 3:30-5:30 so please join us if you are interested in this topic.

Feel free to say hi to me. While I function fine in the world as a pseudo-extrovert, I lean more towards the introvert side in my private life so what may look like aloofness is more likely to be a mild form of social anxiety.

Looking forward to connections.

Karin
