Why Burning Man? Well Touch / aka _Greg
(Stroke Greg) my Hub0 invented the Human Carcass Wash at
PolyParadise because he knew I would never go to the playa
unless I could get wet at least once a day. After
introducing it the first year he gifted it at Burning Man, I
came with him the following year and camped at PolyParadise.
I volunteered at HCW every day of course and loved it. Since
then I have associated with San Diego Burners, held burner
parties in my home, and started volunteering for regional
events.
After attending again in 2011 (my second burn) and seeing
how much PP has grown and changed, how could I not want to
attend in 2012?
Volunteer on the Playa? I worked with Human
Carcass Wash and Poly HAI Tea and led a puja/play party in
the PPPP last year. This year I am going to a ranger mentor
shift and hope to be a Black Rock Ranger.
PolyParadise Favorite Moments: Watching
WildChild lovingly wash and care for Scotto's feet daily in
our lounge area, watching Touch get awarded a superhero
medal last year for creating the HCW, sharing outrageous and
delicious meals and conversations at camp, attending and
leading Poly HAI Tea, and of course watching the joy of
people's faces when they go through the HCW.
Toughest thing: Trying to breath when the
dust is blowing hard and trying to sleep when the art cars
go by. Thank Goddess for face masks and ear plugs.
Best thing: Drinking as much as I can in
and bringing it all back home and creating Burning Man every
day in my San Diego community. I love, love, love my
PolyParadise campmates.
Burning Man Advise: Have fun. Don't try to
see and do everything, pick a few key events to attend. Take
some time to wander out where the playa art is near the Man
effigy by day and by night. If you get stuck in a dust
storm, try to chill in the nearest theme camp until it is
over. Stay hydrated.
